Your Story

Urban Afuera is a unique line of clothing that’s designed to celebrate the blending of cultures. It’s a celebration of Latin American culture, blended with our new Canadian lifestyle.

Its vibrant colours speak to the incorporation of the food, the music, and the traditions so many immigrant families have brought to this magnificent country. The fun and the fashion is a representation of our creativity and the joy we bring to Canada.

It’s through the Urban Afuera line of clothing that we are creating a conduit to hear your stories. We’re not just a clothing line; we’re a support network, a community of doers, of helping hands, and real people that want to spread peace and love. We’re contributing to the building of a community of Latin American Canadians who want to help all people who incur hardships. Our network aims to be a safe place to exchange information, share resources, and champion the bright ideas of the thousands of new families that come to this incredible country, every year.

Though my family may be the face of Urban Afuera, we consider you our family too. We are strongest when we’re united in the name of love. So please join us by registering to purchase one or many of our products. When you do so, you’ll have a chance to share your story so that it might inspire others to follow their dreams. We’re counting on you to become active participants in the community we’re supporting.

PS   -  The clothing company name Urban Afuera was deliberately chosen because it’s a celebration of our connection between urban living and the great outdoors. Afuera means outdoors or outside and we’re intent on honouring the land, the nature, and the precious resources that have always allowed us to live a rewarding life in the beautiful country as well as in the urban areas in which we congregate.

My name is Rhina Larios. I came to Canada about 10 years ago with my family from El Salvador. Starting a life in a new country with different culture, language, traditions and points of view was a shock for us. Not knowing anyone in this country are it even more challenging. We lived in North York for thefirst few years, moved to Barrie for a few years and finally settled in Hamilton, ON. I met so many people from many different backgrounds during that time. I realized that what once was a challenge became something to embrace. Each person added something to my life. I have learned a lot about different cultures and offered a little bit of mine as well. If we think about it, we are not that different. A few years ago, I met a great guy from a completely different background. His own family is a blend of 4 different nationalities. We started to get to know each other and realized that we had more things in common than we expected. We didn't grow up in the same country but were able to find a connection beyond cultural differences.
